Course Description:
This advanced phonics course is designed for third-grade Chinese students aged 9-10 years old, who are non-native English speakers at the A2 CEFR level. This 8-hour course, spread across 4 weeks, will delve into the recognition and division of syllables. Each online class will last for one hour and will include interactive activities, digital games, and practical exercises. The course aims to enhance students' pronunciation and spelling accuracy, providing a solid foundation for further language development.
Course Level definition using CEFR:
This course is designed for students at the A2 level of CEFR. At this level, students can understand and use common phonics patterns like diagraphs,glued sounds, vowel teams and some basic rules. They can identify syllable numbers by vowel numbers in elementary-level words. This course aims to solidify their foundational literacy skills and apply syllable division skills to improve their spelling and pronunciation accuracy.
Course Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
• Know the syllable types and rules of syllable division.
• Apply syllable division rules to improve the spelling accuracy of 2-syllable words.
• Apply syllable division rules to improve the pronunciation accuracy of elementary-level words.
